City delivered an impressive team performance on Saturday morning, earning a 10–0 victory with goals from Josh (4), Aqib (2), Luke (2) and Matthew (2).

While the scoreline stood out, the greatest satisfaction for the coaches came from seeing the players put their training into practice. Intelligent decision-making, well-timed runs and carefully weighted passes helped City produce a succession of excellent team goals.

The midfielders and forwards linked up particularly well, repeatedly finding space behind the opposition defence with passing patterns developed on the training ground. Josh and Matthew formed an effective partnership up front in the first half, with their movement, acceleration and quick feet causing constant problems.

City also showed strong organisation without the ball, limiting their opponents’ opportunities to play in dangerous areas. Andrew performed effectively in the deeper role within the back three, allowing Lewis greater freedom, while Liam handled the physical challenge posed by the opposition’s number nine.

Rhuairidh C, Max and Matthew provided valuable width. Rhuairidh’s movement, pace, delivery and tireless energy earned him the coaches’ award, with his commitment remaining high throughout the match.

After 50 minutes, the coaches introduced additional challenges to support the players’ development. City retreated to halfway rather than pressing and were encouraged to finish with their weaker foot. The changes slowed the scoring while creating useful learning opportunities, including developing the organisation and composure needed to build play from the back through Ruairi K.

There was also a welcome contribution from Luke, Innis and Lewis as they continued their return to fitness, each making a strong impact in their respective roles.

Throughout the game, City’s players treated their opponents with respect and responded positively to the coaches’ instructions. Their football and conduct even prompted complimentary remarks from neutral spectators, who asked which club the team represented.

The coaches were proud of both the quality of the performance and the way the boys carried themselves—a rewarding morning that reflected the squad’s progress, teamwork and enthusiasm.
