Wanderers dig deep for a thrilling win over Carolside

Wanderers delivered a performance full of confidence, discipline and determination in a thrilling contest against a strong Carolside side.
The boys started on the front foot, pressing aggressively and creating numerous chances through some excellent passages of play. Only fine saves and a few final touches and decisions prevented them from adding more goals in the first half.
Rory opened the scoring with an alert response to a loose ball after good pressure, producing an excellent touch and finish on his weaker side.
A superb team move brought the second. Oliver A drove past two players before linking up with Samuel and Rory, whose left-footed pass found Oliver A for a brilliant finish.
Conceding before half-time could have unsettled the team, but the boys responded with a cracking third goal. Noah collected the ball from Oliver S, turned and drove forward before playing in Pete. His shot was followed up by Ash, whose quick thinking supplied the finish.
The work away from the ball was every bit as impressive as the attacking play. Everyone worked hard to support teammates, close spaces and compete against physically bigger opponents, while Oliver made several important saves.
In the final ten minutes, Wanderers defended resolutely. Blocks, clearances and relentless effort limited Carolside’s clear chances, while the boys still looked to stay calm and build attacks when possession came their way.
One determined run towards goal from Samuel drew a foul and gave Wanderers a chance to regain control. Captain Oliver A then showed outstanding strength and leadership twice in the closing moments to stop further Carolside attacks and help see out a brilliant victory.
